The first thing I tried was to use the ‘New’ button icon. I think the reason that I was not able to use it is at-poke couldn’t use the pull down menu. Next, I used the File menu. I was able to create a new message this way:

Evolution → 1st <no name> → 1st <no name> → 1st <no name> → 1st <no name> → 1st <no name> → File → New → Mail Message → [Take Action]
However, I was not able to type in the text entry area.
