F-Spot - Print Dialog

Intended use: Enable a user to print a single photo, a selection of multiple photos, or a goup of images (tags / sets) – in a selected size.

Dialog Options

Page Types

  • Full Page (1 picture)
  • 4×6, multi-up (2 pictures)
  • 3.5×5 multi-up (4 pictures)
  • Other standard sizes
  • Contact sheet (48 - 6×8, 117 - 9×13, 216 - 12×18)
  • Fit (1,2,4,8) to page
  • CD cover (like contact sheet, but with a sampling of the images & group title)

Will need to consider non-US sizes as well

Printing Options

  • Number of copies per photo

Style Options

  • Borders
  • Captions
  • Crop Marks
  • Crop (fit to size on smallest side, crop off extra), aka “Fill-In” / Shrink to fit toggle

Random Stuff to Consider

  • Preview of the page(s) – would be nice to use actual images
  • Printer selection / print options (dpi and what-not)
  • Warning / Tip for small images (mention bad quality prints due to lack of image size, before actually printing)

The Configure button should pop up the standard printer options dialog and update the text with the new settings once the standard print dialog is dismissed.

Preview is a live preview. Double-clicking on each picture should allow one to edit the properties of the picture, including (most importantly) the name, which should be selected so a user could simply type in a new name and hit enter. By default, the names should be set within the standard window of the application itself.

The magnification button should allow the viewer to see the image larger, in a separate window (although this might not be necessary).
