Last night, I went to the Robbie Williams live cinecast in Belgium :-)
The concert was really great, even though watching it on a screen doesn't give you the same feeling than seeing it live, right in the middle of the crowd in front of the stage. I'm really looking forward to his upcoming European tour next year :-)
They showed the event on a really huge screen in something which looked like a big factory building, belonging to some film production company. Much better than a normal cinema where you have seats which are just disturbing you in a live concert.
The only problem was where this place was located. Lint is some small village somewhere in the middle of nowhere somewhere in Belgium near Antwerp. I printed out the directions from MapQuest, but it was still difficult to find. The biggest problem was the directions they gave on their website weren't very helpful at all. It wasn't actually a map, but more a rough scheme of how things look like - with just the major roads on it and a few street names. So if you don't find it straightaway, you get the "where the hell am I" experience .... After driving around for about half an hour I finally found it.
The trip back to Trier was horrible. I decided to take the E 19 / E 411 down towards Luxemburg (instead of the E 313 / E40 straight east towards Germany where I came from) to save some money on the cheaper gas in Luxemburg. According to MapQuest, that was just a detour of 6.96 miles till Wasserbillig (which is about 10 miles from Trier) - so saving more than 10 EUR on gas was worth it. My feeling from looking at the map told me that it must be a lot more and my trip meter confirmed that. I followed the directions exactly (well, it's also the only way you can go anyways) and it was about 100 kilometers more than the straight way. I guess I will never trust distances from MapQuest anymore.
To make things worse, I just got a sandwhich before leaving to the concert and was very hungry on the way back - but any single restaurant on that damn highway was closed after 10 pm. It was a very long and foggy trip till I finally reached the Luxemburg'ian border where I could finally eat some Spaghetti Bolognese ....
